We hope you have had a good half term holiday and are ready for another busy term at nursery. As you can see from the chart on the back of this letter we are already planning and looking forward to all of our Christmas events.
If your child was born between 1st September 2010 and 31st August 2011 you must apply for their school place between 15th November and 15th January 2013. You can do this online by visiting the website www.devon.gov.uk/admissionsonline. There are paper copies of the form available, please speak to us if you need one or if you have any questions about the process. You are strongly advised to read The First Step booklet which is available here at the nursery if you have not received one in the post.
Dates for your diary
Our parent consultation evening will be on Wednesday 12th November from 4-6.00pm. Please sign up for an appointment with your child’s family worker on the board in the parent’s area. This will be a chance for you to discuss your child’s progress and view some of their work.
We will be learning and performing our Christmas nativity this half term. We will be performing the play at St Andrew’s Church on Sunday 14th December at 11am. As in previous years we will be recording the children in the run up to Christmas and then playing the recording. We find this limits the stress on the children and they like to watch themselves on the big screen. There will be an opportunity for those who want to dress up and sing some carols at the front at the end of the service. This is a great opportunity for parents and families who work during the week to see the nativity play and we welcome as many of you as possible to join us for this event with refreshments afterwards. We will be giving a second performance at the end of our Christmas party on Wednesday 17th December 3.00 pm.
The children’s Christmas party will be on Wednesday 17th December at 2-3.30pm. All children are welcome to attend. If Wednesday afternoon is not one of your normal sessions there will be a £4.00 charge, there will be a present from Father Christmas included in the price. Please book your child’s place as soon as possible.
We would like to welcome Sharon Crook as our new play leader in the Giraffe room freeing Paula up to focus on SEN. Sharon has relocated from London where she was nursery manager and has a wealth of experience. She will be joining the red group team.
Uniform will be available to buy in the nursery. Sweatshirts £8.50 and t-shirts £5.50.
Helen Rees has also joined the monkey room team and has lots of experience working in a nursery in Bristol and Uganda.
We look forward to working with you and your child this half term.
The Exwick Ark Staff Team.
